YOUTH MEDIA PRODUCTION ASSISTANT

3 Summer 2017 Youth Media Production Assistant positions are now open!*

Position Description: Interns will work as Production Assistants alongside experienced staff on CTV productions, learning hands-on technical and communications skills specifically related to local community video and television production. Interns will help provide coverage of local sports, community events, festivals, and parades. Interns will also help facilitate other youth programming and have the opportunity to produce their own independent projects. Scheduling is very flexible based on the youth's interest and availability. Exceptions are a mandatory weekly check-in and professional development meeting, time TBD based on interns' schedules.

Duties will include:

- Producing their own video projects and working collaboratively with a team on group projects
- Facilitating small group production work for a variety of projects
- Leading activities with the program participants around media literacy concepts
- Assisting with basic camera and editing training for new program participants
- Providing encouragement for their projects
- Being positive and enthusiastic role models for other teen participants
- Other duties as assigned

Requirements: Camcorder certification, Final Cut Pro X or Adobe Premiere CC certification, Northstar Mac OS certification. The internships are an opportunity for CTV teens 15-19 who have been consistent participants in CTV Teen Programs. Strong candidates will have demonstrated outstanding commitment to developing their production and leadership skills.

Wage & Hours: $10/hr for 15 hours/week

CTV Teens partners with the St. Paul Right Track program to offer internships to high school students during the school year and summer. This school year, CTV will have one Right Track internship position open to students ages 14 to 20.

RIGHT TRACK @ CTV POSITION DESCRIPTIONS:

MEDIA MARKETING ASSISTANT

The Summer 2017 Media Marketing Assistant position is now open!* Click here to apply for Right Track. Once you are approved make sure you list CTV Media Marketing Assistant as one of your choices for employer.

The Right Track YJ01 Media Marketing Assistant will work alongside Youth Media Department staff, working on marketing and outreach for CTV Teens programs and events. Youth will earn camcorder and editing certifications, create video promos for CTV Teens and maintain a social media presence for CTV Teens.

Duties will include:

- Operating CTV Teens social media platforms
- Designing promotional graphics
- Photography
- Operating cameras
- Transferring and editing video for playback
- Assisting with CTV Teens Game Nights and other events
- Other duties as assigned

Orientation will include field equipment, studio and edit training, as well as a skill-building self- assessment to create goals for the term of employment. After orientation and certification, interns will be able to sign up for classes and productions they would like to work on. Scheduling is very flexible based on the youth’s interest and availability. Exceptions are a mandatory weekly check-in and professional development meeting, based on interns’ schedules.

Hours: 10 hours/week

TEEN PRODUCTIONS ASSISTANT

The Right Track YJ01 Teen Productions Assistants will work alongside experienced staff on CTV productions, learning hands-on technical and communications skills specifically related to local community video and television production. Youth will earn camcorder and editing certifications, help facilitate youth programming and have the opportunity to produce their own independent projects.

Duties will include:

- Peer mentorship
- Brainstorming and pitching ideas for TV production
- Helping with set up and tear down of studio and field productions
- Operating cameras
- Monitoring the audio board, graphics, lighting, logging
- Transferring and editing video for playback
- Other duties as assigned

Orientation will include field equipment edit training, as well as a skill-building self-assessment to create goals for the term of employment. After orientation and certification, interns will be able to sign up for classes and productions they would like to work on. Scheduling is very flexible based on the youth’s interest and availability. Exceptions are a mandatory weekly check-in and professional development meeting, based on interns’ schedules.

Hours: 10 hours/week
